Sidemen History

When he was 12 or 13 years old in 2005, Miniminter met KSI and started making videos with him for pleasure. In the end, the two got in touch with Zerkaa in 2012; she was already TBJZL’s longtime buddy from secondary school. The four were in a voice hangout celebrating Josh’s 21st birthday in September 2013 when they began to watch a stream from Behzinga.

They later added Behzinga to the group. Simon gave this first group the moniker “The Original Five.” The organization’s official name was created by Ethan and is a homage to a phrase used to describe people who are “behind the scenes” in a group but are considerably less well-known than the primary players. Tobi and Simon were once JJ’s “sidemen,” while Simon was Tobi’s.

At the first game, which was played in Southampton’s St. Mary’s Stadium in 2016, more than £110,000 was donated to the Saints Foundation.

All matches after that were played in The Valley in London. The Charlton Athletic Community Trust and the NSPCC, respectively, received £210,000 and £65,747 in donations from the second and third matches, played in 2017 and 2018, respectively. In 2022, the fourth match, which benefited CALM, Teenage Cancer Foundation, Rays of Sunshine, and M7 Education, raised more than £1,000,000.
